A few days ago, I wrote about my new penny loafers from Rancourt. Outstanding though they are, I neglected to mention a wonderful surprise that was included with the shoes.
Upon opening the box, I noticed an unusual shape nestled at the end of the box: a set of four leather coasters stamped with the Rancourt logo.
Coasters, I wondered. That seemed an odd little extra from a shoe company. But the paper ribbon binding the coasters quickly unveiled the rationale:
At Rancourt & Co. only the absolute best parts of a hide are cut for a pair of shoes. These coasters have been cut from parts of the hide that do not meet our standards and normally be waste.
